Rev. Catherine Low
Whenever I reflect upon my life and 33 years of church ministries thus far, I can only give thanks to God for His grace has led me through.
I accepted Christ and received the call of God into full-time ministry in 1st AG. I was trained in Bible College of Malaysia where I graduated with a Diploma in Theology. Upon graduation, I was sent to serve in a missionary outreach in Ampang Tasik under the supervision of Pastor John and Dorcas Lim. Later, the outreach grew to become the Glory AG.
Not long after, owing to insufficient staff, I was recalled back to 1st AG, where I served in ISCA (teen fellowship), CA (youth fellowship) and Adults Fellowship. In 1997, I was asked to take charge of the church’s Sunday school.
Looking back, I could clearly see that God had put me into the various different ministries in different seasons so that I would be equipped with the necessary skills to serve Him well. Especially in my present Children Ministry, I need to deal not only with children of varying age group but also their parents or grandparents.
Besides blessing me in my ministry, God has blessed me with a wonderful family. I met my husband, Edmund – a man of few words – in 1st AG and was married in 1987. He is currently the Church Treasurer. We have two children. My son, Edward, is presently pursuing his medical degree in Kuala Terengganu and is also leading a cell group in a local church. My daughter, Petrina, is studying accountancy and is serving in the Children Ministry.
I thank God for giving me and my family the opportunity to serve Him just as Joshua said, “As for me and my family, we will serve the Lord”. Joshua 24:15
