Once, a minister from overseas when invited to a Prayer Meeting was requested to say a few words. He just made one comment:
“You can tell how popular a church is by who comes on Sunday morning.
You can tell how popular the pastor or evangelist is by who comes for the meeting.
But you can tell how popular Jesus is by who comes to the prayer meeting.”
Coordinating the prayer ministry in the past years has been a challenge to me. Sometimes I wondered whether I was in the right ministry by looking at the small attendance in our Tuesday prayer meetings. There are times that I wanted to hand over to someone who is more vibrant, charismatic and prayerful than myself. However I am encouraged and grateful for the faithful attendees who have been coming regularly to the prayer meetings without fail. I also remembered the words Sis Joo Lian once said, “If God called you to be in that ministry then it is You and no one else”. I am also thankful and grateful to Pastor Irene for her guidance and support.
In writing this article, I want to encourage all of Us to be vigilant in our prayer and to intercede in a more urgent manner for our nation. The recent events that are happening in our nation … for example the Allah issue, the seizure of the bibles and amongst others… the recent tragic loss of lives in MH370 and MH17 within a space of 4 months. May we take this as a “wake-up” call or “a time of shaking” and start to look at our own personal prayer altar with the Almighty God. This is the time when we have to start praying and upholding our nation before the Lord. May all of us encourage each other like never before to pray more and allow the fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to invade our hearts. Let the Holy Spirit move, dwell in our hearts and do a fresh work amongst us.
May we as believers in the Lord be the Changing Agent for our Nation.
In concluding, may all of us come together and give the support to our Tag 1 & 2 who will be coordinating the coming prayer retreat (August 31- September 01). The theme is “Building our Altar of Prayer”.
If my people, who are called by my Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2Chronicles 7:14.
