We Are An Obligated Messenger Of God
“For I have a great sense of obligation to people in both the civilized world and the rest of the world, to the educated and uneducated alike. So I am eager to come to you in Rome, too, to preach the Good News” Romans 1:14-15
As a pastor, I conducted numerous funerals and dealt with many death cases. As a father, I witnessed the birth of three of my beautiful princesses. Through birth and death, I noticed one thing - we brought nothing into this world and we certainly can’t bring anything away. Living in this busy and materialistic world, we tend to forget this truth of life. We often misplace our priorities and place higher importance on achievements, possessions or belongings - those which we could not bring away.
However, there is one thing which we can bring away – soul. God created every being with souls and it is the only thing that will last forever either with God in eternity or separated from Him in hell. That is why the Bible places utmost importance on the souls and life of a person.
As disciple and follower of Jesus, we should imitate and instill His passion as His disciple – to love souls. He came to earth to be a redeemer. He walked the earth to preach the Good News of God. He hung on the cross as a ransom for many. He resurrected to give us the power and victory over sin and death. All these because of souls.
We have emphasized on missions for the past one month. We have speakers inspiring us with their life testimonies. We have been challenged to make pledges to give. But have we take heed the word of God? We are called to witness, to stand in the gap, to interceded, to sow seeds of faith, to be fisher of men, to preach the gospel and to harvest souls. Today, have we cultivated these great sense of obligation to the lost souls around us?
